A Fantasy of snow
 Fluttering softly to the lawn below!
 It is the cherry tree whose petals rain
 In mimicry of winter: a tree so high
 That the delicate drift of flakes seems from the sky,
 This boon sky of mid-May.
                                See, once again
 In the light breeze the branches stir and sway,
 Softly discharging to the sward below
                   Their mimicry of snow.
 
 The daisies, with their innocent eyes,
        Look up in mild surprise.
 They star the lawn with white: this heaps it over
        With its pure billowy cover.
 Spring, the sweet witch, has stolen, in swift caprice,
         Winter's loveliest device,
 And laughs, mid song and sunshine, to cheat our eyes
 With her snowy fantasies.
